The movie Deadly Little Christmas presents the time of the year that is the mid October, which is just few days away from Halloween. Christmas seems the best time to release a movie with the same theme. Halloween is period for releasing horror films. Stores around the country have already put their Christmas specialties on sale and now comes the time for Deadly Little Christmas.
Directed by Novin Shakiba and starring Felissa Rose, Monique LaBarr, Leah Grimsson, and Jed Rowen, the movie portrays a psychic killer who escapes from the asylum fifteen years after killing his entire family on Christmas Day. He flees from the asylum to carry on the slaughtering of people that he started when he was an eight-year old boy.
As the movie opens up, the audience is presented with a scene of idyllic household on a particular Christmas Day where the father enters dressed as Santa, to bestow his three little kids with gifts and surprises. After presenting gifts to the kids, we see mom played by Felissa Rose and the kids play around the Christmas tree, while the father goes into the bedroom with the mesmerizing Swedish housekeeper. They indulge in audacious adultery. It is at this point that young Devin Merriman enters the scene and stabs both of them. We then see young Devin with a deadly stare and a bloody knife walking out of the door. The merciless murder committed by Devin still haunts the small town where they lived. The film then takes the audience to flashback depicting the passage of 15 Christmas Eve. Here we see the mother striving hard to keep her grown-up children Taylor and Noel away from the harsh incident that took place fifteen years back when their brother mercilessly murdered their father. After that incident, Devin had been kept away in an asylum.
The performance of Devin as a psychotic killer is simply superb as is his breakout. The violence that Devin depicts in the film has earned huge appreciations from the audiences. The scene where he is shown sitting in chair, then falling out and again managing to get back shows how skillfully he portrayed a psychotic killer. In the asylum he fights back with a person trying to cover his mouth with a chloroform cloth. He also kills another person in the sanitarium.
Devin flees from the asylum with a plan to start slaughtering of people again in such a manner that his previous killings will be look nothing more than a child’s play. When Felissa visits the asylum, in a fearful tone, she says to the administrator of the sanitarium, “You better pray he’s still in this building because horror awaits us if he is not.” You can easily imagine the dreadful feeling that Devin has imbibed in the hearts of his family as well as other people.
